Cary J. Mogerman is a graduate of the Washington University School of Law (J.D. 1985) and Drake University (B.A. 1982). He has been listed in Naifeh and Smith, The Best Lawyers in America, for Family Law, since 1999. In 2009, the same directory named him its “St. Louis Area Lawyer of the Year for Family Law.” According to the publication, lawyers being honored as “Lawyers of the Year” were selected “…because, during the past two surveys, they received particularly high ratings from most of their peers… [t]he selected lawyers have earned a high level of respect among other leading lawyers in the same communities and the same specialties for their abilities, their professionalism, and their integrity.”

He was inducted as a Fellow of the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers in 1995 and presently serves as Missouri's delegate to its Board of Governors. Mr. Mogerman is a member of the Academy's Budget and Admissions Procedures committees, and past-president of the Academy's Missouri Chapter. He is listed annually by St. Louis Magazine as one of St. Louis' "Top Lawyers" for Family Law. Since 2005, he has been designated annually as one of St. Louis' "Top 50 Super Lawyers" by Missouri/Kansas Super Lawyers, a publication of Law and Politics Magazine, and since 2006 has been designated one of the "Top 100 Super Lawyers" in Missouri and Kansas by the same publication.

Mr. Mogerman was voted by his peers as among Missouri's best divorce attorneys in annual polls conducted by the legal newspaper Missouri Lawyers' Weekly (October 2007 and 2008). In 2008, the Missouri Bar and its Family Law Section presented Mr. Mogerman with its Roger P. Krumm Family Law Practitioner Award (formerly known as the Missouri Bar Family Law Practitioner of the Year Award). The Roger P. Krumm Award is presented annually to one lawyer in recognition of "…exceptional competence, skill, integrity, commitment, and dedication toward the improvement and advancement of the practice of family law."

He was the 1997 recipient of the John C. Shepherd Award for Professionalism presented by the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. The award, named in honor of the late St. Louis lawyer and former ABA president, is presented on an annual basis to the “…lawyer who most exemplifies the tenets of professionalism of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis."

Mr. Mogerman is a member of the Family Law Sections of the American Bar Association, the Missouri Bar, and the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. He served as Chair of the Family Law Section of the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis from 1993 to 1995. He holds the "AV" rating of the Martindale-Hubbell Legal Directory.

Mr. Mogerman has lectured on a wide range of family law topics for such sponsors of continuing legal education programming as The Missouri Bar, the Missouri Judicial College for Trial Court Judges, the American Academy of Matrimonial Lawyers, the University of Missouri, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the St. Louis County Bar Association, and the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation. He has co-authored many articles for legal journals and continuing legal education programs, many of which appear elsewhere on this web site. He has also co-authored two chapters in the book entitled Missouri Family Law: "Characterization and Division of Property in Divorce" and "Conflicts of Law."

In addition to his trial practice, Mr. Mogerman maintains an interest in appellate practice, having briefed and argued nearly thirty appeals in Missouri appellate courts. Mr. Mogerman served as president of Congregation Temple Israel in St. Louis from 2002 through 2004. He is married to Dee Mogerman and they are the parents of three sons.
